Can you reuse piston circlips?
Sure you can use the old clips. The chances are 99 1/2 percent they will be fine with no future problems. HOWEVER, new ones are awfully cheap and every single service manual ORDERS that new clips ALWAYS be used.
What is a floating wrist pin?
In the fully floating configuration, a bearing surface is created both between the small end eye and gudgeon pin and the journal in the piston. The gudgeon pins are usually secured with circlips. No interference fit is used in any instance and the pin ‘floats’ entirely on bearing surfaces.
How do you remove circle clips?
To remove an E- clip, use either a remover tool, needle-nose pliers, or a small, flathead screwdriver. Grasp the E- clip with your tool and push it upwards using moderate pressure. You can easily remove E- clips with another household tool.
